The stated mission of the South Dakota High School Activities Association is to “serve member schools by providing leadership in the development, supervision and conduct of interscholastic activities which enrich the educational experiences of high school students.” Since 1905, the SDHSAA has done just that, and now has 18 athletic and 10 fine arts programs that culminate annually in over 60 State Championship Teams being crowned. The SDHSAA, based in Pierre, was one of the first eight members of the NFHS, and is continuing to work to provide leadership in “the other half” of the educational experience for the students across South Dakota.
